This month we will be catching up with Adam White to get his thoughts on the latest trends in the industry.

Adam is the Principal Landscape Architect for Groundwork London. He is also a CABE Space Enabler, Green Flag Judge, Design Ambassador and Chair of the Groundwork UK Landscape Architects Forum.

When designing any new play area, the subject of inclusivity should always be considered from the beginning of the project.
This week we will be looking at design principle number 5 in the Design for Play Guide which states play areas must be 'accessible to both disabled and non-disabled children'.

This design principle was used to full advantage in 2007's installation of Withy Grove Park in South Ribble.

As featured in Playfair’s 2009 central feature, the Ixo is a timeless piece of equipment. It is a great accompaniment to any Playbuilder/Playpathfinder scheme as it aimed specifically at the 8-13 age range.

We hope you all managed to visit our stand at the recent Playfair 2009 exhibition, which is supported by the API (Association of Play Industries).
 

Proludic worked with Taunton Deane Borough Council to create  the first Playbuilder - showcase site. Aileen Shackell - Lead author of the Design for Play guide comments:

In January 2009, new combinations, aimed at small children, will be added to the Diabolo range.

Proludic is widening this range with new equipment designed for tiny tots aged 2 years or more, encouraging them to explore activities providing different motor and sensory experiences.
