Sports Legacy Zone: Performance Development Programme

The PDP allows groups to get the most out of their Sports Legacy Zone.

The PDP allows groups to get the most out of their Sports Legacy Zone. Proludic have created a Performance Development Programme (PDP) to provide an educational resource as an extension to the Virtual Coach. This is a series of programmes developed by Steve Backley and Roger Black to facilitate semi-structured activities based on teamwork, agility, cooperation and technical knowledge. This will allow the installed facility to be used in periods of the day that are traditionally quiet and extends the appeal of the equipment to a wider range of users.

This programme has been developed for schools, youth services, health agencies and families. The Personal Development Programme can also be used to facilitate volunteer engagement through a volunteer coaching initiative.

They detail the session duration, the aims and objectives and provide a ‘lesson plan’ approach to achievement and engagement through physical exercise.

These sessions are flexible and can be delivered as half day, whole day or part of a number of semi-structured sessions. The activities have been designed to appeal to all abilities with three levels of difficulty. Users will take part in a number of activities before competing in the team relay event. A number of different modules can be undertaken and progress can be monitored.

A typical session would include:

  • A warm-up and risk, benefits assessment
  • Basic techniques and application
  • Evaluation of ability and development areas
  • The challenges and activities
  • Group relay
