Proludic was appointed by East Dunbartonshire Council to deliver a £470,000 inclusive play and sports destination for toddlers, children, young people and families. The project transformed an outdated site into a vibrant, ambitious space designed around accessibility, safety and long-term community use.
Following the removal of the existing fenced play area, outdoor gym equipment and wetpour surfacing, Proludic created a fresh layout that met and exceeded the Council’s demanding brief. Inclusive equipment included harness swings, a carer-and-toddler swing, basket and rope swings, an inclusive roundabout and a wheelchair-accessible seesaw.
The completed scheme, themed “An Out of This World Play Area”, is centred on a striking Metropolis multiplay unit with a stainless-steel corkscrew slide. Four slide heights, a double-width slide, a 30-metre double cableway and varied climbing, bouncing, rotating and swinging activities provide challenge and excitement for all ages.
The play area offers more than 296 play values and a capacity for over 154 users. The outdoor gym supports more than 100 users, 90 sports activities and 15 family games.
Proludic also installed extensive drainage to address historic waterlogging. Following consultation at the local library, the public selected Proludic’s design, demonstrating strong community support for this accessible, imaginative destination for years to come.
