Inspired by the village’s riverside setting, the centrepiece is the “Bourdillon Belle”. This is a bespoke boat-themed structure with a triple slide and accessible dual slide, encouraging shared play. A four-metre treehouse features a specially commissioned Grafic Games panel combining drawings and stories created by local schoolchildren, giving the community a lasting role in the design.

Inclusive features include a wheelchair-accessible roundabout, musical rain wheel, communication boards and a range of supportive swing options. Bright wetpour surfacing and a resin-bound sensory trail improve accessibility, while balance elements, playful archways and hidden animal geocaches encourage exploration and discovery.

Additional features include a cableway, playhouse, shop front and wooden horse and cart, supporting role play, storytelling and social interaction.

With more than 220 play values and capacity for up to 170 users, the completed playground combines inclusive design, local identity and community creativity. It is set to become a much-loved destination for families across Goring-on-Thames and the surrounding area for many generations to come.
