Proludic transformed Tardy Gate Play Area into a vibrant, inclusive community play destination in partnership with South Ribble Borough Council. The refurbishment has revitalised a tired local park, creating an exciting environment that encourages active, social and imaginative play for children and young people of all abilities.
A standout feature is the ninja trail, complete with a solar-powered stopwatch panel for timed challenges and friendly competition. Two Diabolo multiplay units provide varied climbing, sliding and exploration opportunities for younger and older children. Inclusive equipment, including a wheelchair-accessible roundabout and colourful shop-play panels, ensures that more children can play together.
The upgraded Multi-Use Games Area supports ball games and skating, while its bright colours and open-sided design create a welcoming, spectator-friendly space. Existing tarmac and safety surfacing were improved with artificial carpet and thermoplastic graphics, adding both durability and visual interest.
The original teen shelter was repainted, and a low-level skate ramp now offers additional appeal for skateboarders, scooter users and cyclists.
The completed scheme is a dynamic, accessible and sustainable play and sports area that brings the local community together through fun, fitness and inclusive design. It provides a place for families to meet, connect and enjoy outdoor activity.
