Proludic and Charlie Capelle are setting off again on the 2026 Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe to carry the voice of the Chaîne de l’Espoir. A magnificent story is beginning to be written. We propose to tell its story through a series of articles, the first of which focuses on the secrets of a Route du Rhum fueled by a sailor’s passion for his wooden boat. Welcome aboard!
In early November 2026, Saint-Malo will vibrate to the rhythm of the start of the Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe, the most legendary of solo transatlantic races. Among the many skippers expected, a familiar face will set sail: Charlie Capelle, aboard Acapella, his famous yellow 11.50-meter trimaran made of molded wood.
For his 7th participation, faithfully supported by Proludic, Charlie will once again, with pleasure and pride, wear the ambassador’s raincoat of La Chaîne de l’Espoir, of which our company is one of the main sponsors. Together, we will carry loud and clear the message of solidarity of this association which does remarkable work to enable disadvantaged children around the world to access medical and hospital care.

71 years old and still daring to challenge the Atlantic
Charlie Capelle, 71 years old at the start of the race, is preparing to embark once again on a solo ocean voyage, proving that years have no effect when passion prevails. His expertise, acquired at the helm of his shipyard, his immense maritime experience, and his intimate knowledge of Acapella, promise to open a new chapter in the maritime saga written by this woodworker.
It’s worth remembering that this multihull, which he helped build in the early 1980s and has saved from the waters several times, is none other than the twin sister of the very first winner of the race.
I never imagined racing another boat. I’m one with her. I’ve spent my whole life developing Acapella, I’ve rebuilt her several times. I love sailing and competing with her.
Charlie Capelle
Sailing solo on the same sailboat for over three decades also demonstrates the robustness of a boat, which in Charlie’s hands hasn’t aged a bit and continues to perpetuate the racing legend. For this new challenge, he can count on Proludic’s renewed commitment to a partnership built on longevity and sharing.
Like Charlie, we know that the greatest successes are those built over time. Supporting him in this bold new venture is a no-brainer: this adventure reflects Proludic’s mission: to create, from A to Z, play and sports spaces that bring people together and promote the development of everyone.

Taking aim for 2026
Before allowing Acapella to return to sea next spring, Charlie is continuing the renovation of his “ocean Stradivarius.” A long-term project before setting sail for Saint-Malo, to answer the call of a new Route du Rhum; and to contribute, with the force of the wind, to the influence of the Chaîne de l’Espoir across the ocean.
