City: Riga (Latvia)
Once again, Proludic demonstrated its innovative streak and creative flair by creating a magnificent playground that was inaugurated in June 2017 in Riga, the capital of Latvia. The playground draws its inspiration from Riga’s history and architecture, and includes activities for children of all ages with several inclusive play features allowing children to play together!
This multi-generational playground is divided into two areas: a play area for 2 to 6-year-olds and another area for 7 to 14-year-olds. Both areas are connected by a gangway that symbolises the Vanšu Bridge crossing the Daugava River.
Play area for 7 to 14-year-olds: nature and modernism
This area features a harmonious blend of nature and modernism. The colours and materials are reminiscent of the Latvian countryside and the modern city of Riga. The play units are deliberately unstructured and draw their inspiration from the contemporary architecture. The bravest children can climb to the top of the incredible 8 metre-high Rainforest Tower. White-knuckle structures (Skysurf, Aeroskate, Rodeoboard and Roll-Up) have been added to create a more dynamic and challenging play environment for teenagers.
Play area for 2 to 6-year-olds: traditional architecture
This playground provides a modern representation of Riga’s buildings and fortifications. It offers a number of platforms in different heights, culminating in the impressive 6 metre-high castle. The shapes of the archways, roofs and windows mirror the city’s traditional architecture, as does the colour scheme. The perforated aluminium panels, the brushed stainless steel and the play panels bring a modern touch to this area. The elevated gangway between the fortress and the opposite riverbank (older children’s play area) provides original climbing and sliding activities. More adventurous children can also cross the river using the double zip line.
Additional play equipment for children of all ages and abilities
This sprawling playground is also home to many other play features for children of all ages and abilities, including Proludic’s inclusive boat and truck, the inclusive Diabolo Multi-Play, the Tiboo multi-play structure for the youngest children, a rope pyramid, several swings, rotating equipment, springers and table tennis tables.
