With over 38 years of experience in creating inclusive, inspiring outdoor environments, Proludic was chosen by the London Borough of Waltham Forest to transform Lloyd Park – one of the borough’s most visited green spaces, attracting over two million visitors annually. The park required a durable, high-capacity play area that would offer long-term value and inclusive experiences for children of all ages and abilities. Following a competitive tender process, Proludic was selected for its creative design, inclusive ethos, and reputation for robust, long-lasting equipment.

The design drew inspiration from the park’s heritage and natural surroundings. It introduced a wide range of features accommodating up to 170 children and delivering over 120 different play values. Central to the redesign was Proludic’s exclusive Ninja Trail – a high-energy, physically challenging feature for older children and teens. The park also includes a beach-themed sand play area with fun fish graphics and a wheelchair-accessible sandpit, promoting sensory play for all abilities.

A new toddler zone features a bespoke inclusive multiplay unit, encouraging early social interaction and imaginative play. One of the borough’s first Communication Panels was installed to support non-verbal and neurodiverse children. Other key additions include dynamic swings, a thrilling zipwire, climbing structures, a 4-metre-high tree house, an inclusive roundabout, and a wheelchair-accessible seesaw. Themed leaf line markings guide children across the site, blending creativity with educational value.

Working closely with the Council, Proludic’s in-house teams delivered the project on time and to the highest standards, ensuring every element – from surfacing to final finishes – met strict safety and quality requirements. Funded through £250,000 of Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (NCIL), the refurbishment supports the borough’s mission to promote active, inclusive, and healthy communities.

The official opening on 10 April 2025, led by Cllr Clyde Loakes MBE, was a celebration of community and play. Over 400 residents attended throughout the day, enjoying face painting, a visit from the Easter Bunny, treasure hunts, goodie bags, and more. The new playground was praised for its quality, accessibility, and long-term community benefit.

I’m delighted officially open this fantastic, newly refurbished play area to local children and families. Lloyd Park is an incredibly busy destination which attracts more than two million visits a year and the playground here is a large part of its popularity…. We have excellent features and equipment of the highest quality, which can be enjoyed by our younger residents long into the future. It has also been designed to be accessible and inclusive and truly reflective of the wide range of abilities and needs of local families.

Since reopening, the play area has seen exceptionally high usage, quickly becoming a beloved destination for families. Children of all backgrounds now enjoy an engaging space that fosters social development, sensory exploration, and physical activity – all within a safe and inclusive environment.

The Lloyd Park project stands as a flagship example of Proludic’s commitment to creating meaningful, lasting spaces where children thrive and communities connect.
