After obtaining Heritage Lottery Funding, Cannock Chase wanted to refurbish the entire park with new play and teen areas, a skate area, access paths and a pavilion. They wanted an innovative concept design to be delivered that evidenced added value features that included inclusivity.

Proludic was chosen as the preferred partner, using the local mining heritage and nature reserve as the main inspiration for their design submission.

In the design, we included several unique features that blended in with the existing natural environment: A large central seating area in the shape of the mining wheel, a big Amazon-themed multi-play tower creating a key focal point and a hand pump that works along the river bed. In the teen area, a parkour and dynamic play zone has been created, to give older children a hub for activity and fun.

I am delighted to open this fantastic play area for local children. This project has been achieved through rigorous consultation and delivered through the hard work and effort of the local community, partners and council officers.
