The existing Churchfield play area required refurbishment as the outdoor play equipment and surfacing were old and provided limited play values. Inclusivity was a key requirement and therefore playground designs were made to enhance the inclusive play experience. Inclusive play equipment included a sand play area with an accessible play bridge, sand digger and wheelchair accessible roundabout.

Kingston looked to get community views on the Proludic playground designs and undertook joint community events to gather these and use the feedback in the revised design. A zip wire was most requested in consultation and so the redesign reflected this feedback with a 25m zip wire. The play area which was once underused and uninviting are now modern, vibrant and filled with children and families.

The Royal Borough Kingston worked closely with Proludic throughout the delivery of the project undertaking a joint engagement exercise to listen to the views of the local community and revise the design following these views. The playground has been transformed into an exciting and inclusive play space that is now filled with children and their families enjoying the new facilities.
