LEAP Play Area with swing set and vibrant colourful play flooring

Proludic’s new sports and play project has transformed this residential area. We have introduced a vibrant new ‘Local Equipped Area for Play’, or LEAP, designed to meet the needs of the local area.

Site: Littlebourne Rd, Canterbury, CT1 1RD

Client: Taylor Wimpey

Budget: £77,000

Age Range: Toddler, Junior

Date Opened: 9-August-2022

Ranges: Diabolo

Set just outside the historic city of Canterbury on the former Howe Barracks site is the new leap play area. Taylor Wimpey has undertaken a major redevelopment of the site adding hundreds of new residential homes for professionals and families to purchase.

As part of the sizable master plan for the area, the principal contractor, Taylor Wimpey, wanted to create a large LEAP to meet the needs of juniors and teenagers residing locally. Following a competitive bidding process, Proludic was chosen as the contractor to deliver the play and sports area.

The newly completed Canterbury play area site now includes popular pieces of equipment set against the vibrant multicolour wetpour surfacing. The new play area offers a wide range of play experiences and play values in a combined outdoor space.

Equipment in the LEAP includes traditional play equipment such as swings and a multiplay unit. It also includes more challenging and engaging Proludic favourites such as the Pod swing (J440) and rotating climbing net (R48-IPY-702). This vast range of play experiences creates an outdoor space suitable for users of all ages from toddlers to teenagers!

This new play area is a great addition to the neighbourhood. As well as providing children with a safe space to hang out, it also offers a host of play values which are essential for children’s development.
